Berkeley Lights opto-nanofluidic platforms are enabling interactive biology at the cellular level and empowering scientists and researchers to study and interact with single cells in ways never before possible. Headquartered in Emeryville, California, Berkeley Lights is working with biopharma and biotech companies to facilitate drug discovery and cell line development, and with research institutes on single-cell annotation and genomics.

I am a process-centric engineering manager who has lead the hardware team through the design, development, manufacturing implementation, scale up, and sustaining engineering of automated life science instrumentation. I am versed in collaboration with interdisciplinary groups and project management. My engineering roles have given me experience with precision thermo-mechanical structure design (i.e. heat transfer, thermal strain, thermocentric design), kinematic constraint, and elastic averaging. I also have extensive experience collaborating with optical designers (flourescence microscopy), PCB designers., and biologists. Furthermore, I have worked with microfluidic systems and semiconductor instrumentation. I love to learn about anything engineering! My personal interests include an obsession with motorcycles and really, anything with a motor in it. I love to ride them on the race track, modify them, maintain them, and fabricate for them. I have a passion anything DIY and have spent a lot of time in my garage metalworking and woodworking.
