I joined Softtek in 1995 and today I lead the organization’s global marketing and communications efforts. My team has contributed to making Softtek one of Latin America’s most successful IT brands, bringing the nearshore industry to global prominence in the process. Since Softtek started its venture in global services, I have worked tirelessly, along with a group of very talented individuals, to introduce nearshore to the world through a variety of thought leadership successes. I have authored several white papers around the topics of outsourcing, nearshoring, Mexico, and Total Cost of Engagement, which have contributed to positioning nearshore as an industry not defined by labor arbitrage. Along with the Softtek team, we conceptualized and executed Softtek’s influential Nearshore Summit in 2006. The first of its kind, the summit brought together Mexico’s government, leading U.S. companies, Softtek, the IT analyst community and major academics to promote the nearshore industry. Companies including IBM and HP showcased their activities in Mexico while Jeffrey Davidow, former U.S. Ambassador to Mexico, keynoted a presentation calling for further Mexico-U.S. ITO & BPO relations. This was followed with a 2nd Summit 8 months later at Softtek’s Ensenada center. This resulted in an influential report on the region, “Mexico Starts its Offshore Services,” by leading Forrester Analyst Stephanie Moore. Both summits were crucial in establishing nearshore and Mexican enterprise on the world’s stage at a time when attention was non-existent.I have also led Softtek’s analyst relations efforts. As a result, Softtek is the only non-Indian company included in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Offshore Application Services (2006 & 2007), and is constantly referenced in various analyst publications.I'm fortunate to be a frequent speaker and organizer of events promoting the nearshore and IT services industries.
