Mr. Gerhardt has been practicing public sector labor and employment and education law for more than 25 years. He is a partner/shareholder in the Honeywell Law Firm. Honeywell Law is a boutique law practice focused on labor and employment law and education law. Mr. Gerhardt has a diverse, statewide practice, reflecting his years experience as a litigator, advocate and counselor at law. He frequently litigates in court and through administrative proceedings. Mr. Gerhardt has a statewide practice providing general counsel and special counsel services to public and private entities across New York State. Mr. Gerhardt also counsels and provides strategic advice to corporations including stewarding these entities through government compliance matters appearing before all manner of state and federal regulatory agencies such as, the EEOC, US Department of Education, New York State Division of Human Rights, New York State Education Department, New York State Attorney General’s Office, New York State Liquor Authority and New York State Comptroller’s Office. Mr. Gerhardt has been in private practice more than 15 years, starting that aspect of his career as a partner at one of the largest law firms in New York State (outside of NYC.) Mr. Gerhardt also served as General Counsel to the New York State Council of School Superintendents; Director of Government Relations and Assistant Counsel for the School Administrators Association of New York State (SAANYS). He began his legal career as a counsel to the Speaker of the New York State Assembly. Mr. Gerhardt has taught Education Law, Constitutional Law and Criminal Law as an Adjunct Professor at Union College’s Graduate School, The College of St. Rose and Hudson Valley Community College. In the Fall of 2023 he starts as an Adjunct Professor at Skidmore College where he will teach Business Law. This may be considered Attorney Advertising according to the Rules of Professional Conduct
