I have served as president, chair, or vice president of a variety of professional, trade and non-profit organizations, including: Microcomputer Software Association (founder and twice chair), Association of Data Processing Services Organizations (VP for Government Affairs) and Software Protection Committee (Chair); CODASYL (Conference on Data Systems Languages) Systems Committee (Chair), GUIDE Advanced Programming Language Committee (chair), Data Processing Management Association (Chapter President), Appalachian Mountain Club Cold River Camp Committee (Chair), Chatham Trails Association (President). I am also a public speaker who has made more than 100 professional presentations, principally at international, national, regional, and local meetings of compuer systems and software professional societies and trade associations; also at educational organizations, libraries, clubs, museums, and retirement communities on history and how to become an author. I am a published author of historical fiction, genealogy, and hiking guide books, as well as author of articles on systems analysis and design in professional trade publications. I am an actor who has performed on stage in more than 60 amatuer musical theatre productions. I am a singer and musician who has performed a one-hour duet act featuring songs and stories from about the 1880s through the 1950s (the Happiness Boys) more than 300 times at historical theatres, libraries, special events, and at senior citizen facilities. I am a teacher of computer programming, operations, systems analysis and design (LaSalle College, the American Management Association, and for a variety of businesses).
