I am a worldly software engineer, always learning and keen to contribute. I focus on back-end and data management systems, but have experience with and appreciation for user experience, design, front-end, networks, hardware, and management. I was a two-time world finalist at the ACM ICPC, an algorithmic competition, and for a decade was involved in organizing contests for undergraduates. Personal statement: Software should be designed and developed for the end-users in mind, be it a consumer or a fellow developer. Technologies should be chosen to reflect the nature of task with an understanding of what is being made and with an understanding of what the framework chosen was made for. Solutions should be architected early with modules and milestones to allow for rapid change and even wholesale replacement as unforeseen requirements arise. I think big but I work to get minimum viable products done quickly and robustly with an eye to filling out and optimizing in the future. I use software service boundaries and protocols to enforce division of labor on a team and to empower my colleagues within their personal domain. I value the presentation of my work and how others will see the fruits of my labor so they are immediately effective and easy for others to use.
