I'm a public relations leader with more than 17 years of experience leading both national and global campaigns. My company, Modern Global Communications, specializes in marketing, branding and media communications for a roster of global brands and professional athletes. After suffering a ischemic stroke that nearly killed me in late 2014, and ultimately given a vegetative-state prognosis, I fought back against all odds and have truly come back stronger than ever. Every year more women die from stroke then from breast cancer. While I didn't know anything about this disease before my own world was turned upside down, I am proud to be a stroke survivor and share my story. I became a survivor spokesperson for the National Stroke Association's Come Back Strong Campaign and was recognized as a "Face of the 2015 New York City Marathon" when I ran it one year to the day of my stroke. I am also a featured Stroke Survivor Spokesperson at Yale New Haven Hospital and was appointed to the American Stroke Association Advisory committee in 2016. My mission is to use my story to inform, support and connect with people who are affected by a stroke in any capacity. My road to a comeback has been long, and hard, but by sharing my story, I can encourage, support and change lives.
