A lot of experience in inventing new solutions to old problems using existing or new technologies. One of the original architects of Jini, the lead architect and tech lead for JavaSpaces, current CTO of Industrious Media. and a member of the Technical Advisory Board for Majitek. Worked at Apollo (and for a little while at HP after they bought Apollo) doing distributed computing. (If you promise not to tell anyone, I will confess that I was one of HP's architects of CORBA 1.0). I've been doing OO design since before I knew there was such a thing -- I invented the curses library package which turns out to be OO (who knew?). Also co-authored rogue, a CRT-based interactive game in which you descended into randomly-generated dungeons, met monsters, and killed them. I also write books, articles, and speak. I view these as essentially travelogues: Places I've been and can tell you about. My current personal/technical interest is creating systems to scale direct democracy to nation-size levels, and taking programmers seriously as humans, and trying to apply the techniques of human factors to programming APIs and languages. And getting other people to do this. Related to this, I'm working on a "hand-sketched" skin of Java Swing applications so that provisional GUIs look provisional instead of more done than they are (you can find this at http://napkinlaf.sourceforge.net if you care to take a gander). Specialties: Object Oriented programming; distributed systems; human usability; bleeding edge design; team leadership
