Matthew co-chairs and provides executive leadership to AWA. At Lupa Systems, he helps invest in and develop extraordinary companies that shape media, build communities and support healthy social systems. He became Chief Marketing Officer at Roku in 2013 and was responsible for all marketing, communications and customer insight for Roku as a corporate entity and across its business units – platform (advertising, programming and content distribution) and devices (TVs, streaming players and whole home audio products). During his tenure, Roku became America's #1 streaming platform by hours and created more than $35B in shareholder value. Matthew strengthen corporate functions, contributed to Roku's successful IPO, helped develop Roku's free TV strategy which led to launching The Roku Channel and "Featured Free." He played a prominent role promoting Roku's advertising business and the shift away from linear TV and onto connected TV platforms. Forbes and Business Insider named Matthew to lists of the world's most innovative CMOs. Previously, Matthew was Strategic Advisor to the company and worked on corporate strategy and development, including fund-raising, as well as supporting marketing and communications. Matthew was an advisor to 21st Century Fox relating to its investments in MOBY Group and Team Sky, repeated winner of the Tour de France. Prior to joining Roku, Matthew was Group Director, Strategy and Corporate Affairs, Europe and Asia, of News Corporation. He had a wide remit across some of the world's most competitive marketplaces and focused on improving performance of the TV businesses with branding, marketing, channel packaging, programming, internal and external communications and corporate responsibility initiatives. He reported to James Murdoch, who later became CEO of 21st Century Fox. Before this, Matthew was Group Director, Communications and Brand Marketing, of British Sky Broadcasting Plc (Sky). During his tenure, Sky entered the broadband marketplace, launched HDTV, became the world's first carbon neutral media company and was named Britain's Most Admired Company by Management Today. Prior to Sky, Matthew was regional CEO of Ogilvy PR's Asian and European networks. In 2004, the World Economic Forum selected Matthew for its Forum of Young Global Leaders, where he has been active on environmental and climate-related initiatives. He is a past trustee of The Climate Group and treasurer of Malaria No More UK. He holds an undergraduate degree from Penn and attended Harvard's Global Leadership and Public Policy Program.
