These managers knew that technical knowledge of finance and accounting practices doesn’t matter a great deal if you don’t have the right team with the right attitude. The support I gained from my mentors made a lasting impression on me. Since that time, I have instituted mentoring programs throughout my career to help foster new leaders that share a commitment to delivering quality services and working collaboratively across functional lines. The opportunity to see new talent promoted is one of the most rewarding aspects of my career. With a solid team in place, I have had a significant role in restructuring internal financial systems that are highly efficient. By consolidating processes, cross-training and rotating team members, cost savings are maximized, and risks are minimized. In addition, by utilizing emerging IT systems and integrated enterprise software, my teams have produced more accurate and timely financial reports that benefit everyone system-wide. My finance and accounting roles include traditional responsibilities for multi-million dollar operating centers with complex reporting requirements to internal BoDs and filings with government agencies. Special projects include capital management, joint ventures, building expansion, long-term budgeting and strategic planning.
