Principal Engineer
Linden Lab was founded in 1999 by Philip Rosedale to create a revolutionary new form of shared 3D entertainment. The former CTO of RealNetworks, Philip pioneered the development of many of today's streaming media technologies, including RealVideo.
About Me: ● British bloke and recent American citizen ● Currently loving life in San Francisco via London, Singapore, Barcelona, and Hong Kong ● Second Life developer during the day since 2004 ● Enthusiastic WebGL hacker in the evenings ● Founder of Industrial Might and Logic Combat Robots ● Eager world traveler (40+ countries) ● Crossfit and indoor rowing aficionado ● Insanely happy husband and father ● In my current position at Linden Lab, I'm fortunate enough to work with a small team of hugely talented people on Second Life. It is, by orders of magnitude, the largest 3D virtual world ever created and is thriving. All of the content you see when you visit Second Life is created by our amazing residents - the people who inhabit our world. This includes 3D meshes, rich detailed textures, music and complex scripting using LSL (Linden Scripting Language). Family permitting, I like to spend time in the evenings hacking on WebGL projects. So much to learn but it's great fun and very rewarding. I have a modest page of examples here: http://callum.com Finally, some relevant experience keywords for the LinkedIn bots to digest: ● 3D ● API Design ● Boost ● Bugzilla ● C/C++ ● CEF ● Chromium Embedded Framework ● Clang/LLVM ● CSS ● Design patterns ● Emscripten ● gcc ● Git ● HTML5 ● iOS ● JavaScript ● Jira & GreenHopper ● Linux ● Mac ● Mercurial ● Microsoft Visual Studio ● Mobile ● MySQL ● Oculus Rift ● Open source software ● OpenGL ● OS X ● PHP ● Python ● Qt ● QuickTime ● Refactoring ● Scrum ● Subversion ● Trello ● three.js ● Virtual Reality ● WebGL ● Webkit ● Windows ● Xcode ●
