Associate Prof of Physics

Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research is an Abu Dhabi Government initiative owned solely by the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The university was inaugurated in February 2007 and opened its interim campus in Abu Dhabi in October 2008 to add to the campus in Sharjah (formerly Etisalat University College). The university's permanent Abu Dhabi campus is currently being developed. The Sharjah branch campus has a very proud 18-year history and in February 2008 was merged with the Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research to form the foundation of Khalifa University.

Abdel F. Isakovic graduated from University of Minnesota in 2003, with the first doctoral thesis focused on spin transport in ferromagnet-semiconductor heterostructures. He had worked at Cornell University LASSP and Physics Department (2003 – 2006) as a postdoc (with the focus on quasi-1D/-2D meso-/nano transport and spectroscopy), and as a lecturer (2006), before his appointment at Brookhaven National Lab (NSLS, X-ray nanophotonics, 2006-2009). He is an Assoc. Prof. of Physics and Adjunct Faculty in Biomedical Engineering Dept., at Khalifa University of Science and Technology (KUST), Abu Dhabi (UAE), where he founded the research group working on spintronics, meso-/nanotransport, nanophotonics and biologically motivated complex systems. Between Fall 2012 and Spring 2017 he was the KUST faculty coordinator in charge of Core Nanocharacterization Facilities, and in March 2017 he was appointed Associate Dean for Research (Interim) in College of Arts and Sciences at KUST.
