As a registered patent attorney, I help my clients protect and monetize their intellectual property assets. I begin a client relationship by studying and then understanding three critical components: the company, the technology and the industry. With this foundation, I craft a patent protection and expansion strategy that meets clients’ core objectives. These objectives often include limiting competitor opportunities, increasing revenue through licensing and increasing overall company value. MANAGING PATENT PORTFOLIOS FOR LARGE CLIENTS In 25 years of practice, I have managed several large groups of patent prosecutors to aid clients in obtaining patents for their technologies. I currently manage a team of more than 10 attorneys for patent prosecution and related services to an American international electronic commerce company and the world's largest online retailer. As part of my experience, I have served as lead outside patent counsel to a well-known American outdoor recreation company specializing in camping gear, and have helped manage a team of over 15 attorneys providing patent prosecution for an American multinational software corporation that develops software. HELPING VCs, START-UPS AND COMPANIES BUILT ON IP RIGHTS I have worked with various startup and venture capitalists looking to establish initial protection in a new technology and determine optimum ways to monetize new IP assets. As examples, I have served as lead outside patent counsel to develop patent portfolio for, and for diligence on sale of, ultrasound medical device company for $35 million, and for multiple other medical device companies that have sold for millions of dollars each.
