My passion is developing manufacturing environments based on lean (Toyota Production System) principles in a transparent, integrity based culture. This requires developing leaders and cross functional teams to understand the importance of following disciplined processes in the areas of people, quality, continuous improvement and the key operating principles. Over my past 24+ years of high volume manufacturing, I have held engineering and leadership roles with full P&L and multi-site responsibility for new product introductions, brownfield turnarounds and 3 greenfield start-ups. My manufacturing engineering, machinery design/installation, quality and operations experience has been gained domestically and internationally, in both automotive assembly/paint operations, heavy equipment and low volume specialty vehicle manufacturing. I use a hands on approach in developing leaders and teams. My experience in creating a cohesive work environment while developing the operating philosophies for the sales, marketing, manufacturing engineering, supply chain, quality, finance and operations organizations has led to long term sustained results. The culture includes the use of business plan deployment to set direction, standardized work, Kanban, built-in-quality, visual management and continuous improvement. The continuous improvement culture is not just based on kaizen events, but the ideas generated everyday by all members of the greater team. My most recent assignments included setting the quality organizations vision and operating system philosophy. They are systems based on quality standards where the operations team members know and understand the standards. This changes the role of the quality team member to 'confirming' quality to the standard rather than inspecting for quality, driving a culture of accountability and problem solving ownership.
