Matt Whitmire is a partner of Dixon Hughes Goodman serving in the Atlanta Region. Matt completed a BBA in Accountancy and Master of Accountancy at the University of Georgia. His experience is concentrated in the areas of closely held, high growth and publicly traded companies within the technology, manufacturing, construction and financial services industries. In the delivery of audit services to technology and software companies, Matt has developed extensive experience in revenue recognition, development costs, business combinations, and share-based payments. Matt has also served in the Risk Advisory Services practice, assisting non-audit clients in fulfillment of their responsibilities pertaining to Sarbanes-Oxley.Matt has participated in numerous SEC reporting engagements including secondary public offerings, and consults on various accounting and reporting issues related to SEC filings. Matt is a willing resource in SEC matters as well as many issues that often are prevalent with registrants but also impact growing private companies (e.g. hedging, share-based compensation, business combinations, intangibles/impairments and EPS). His career development has been greatly enhanced by serving a diversity of industries such as aerospace, textile, bio-tech/other manufacturing, sub-prime finance, construction, and venture capital. Matt assumes full responsibility for directing and managing client engagements, including identifying key business and audit risks and providing recommendations for process improvements as well as strategies for implementing such recommendations. Prior to joining Dixon Hughes Goodman, Matt served with an international accounting firm.
