Information Technology Operations Executive With His Head in the Cloud

Boys and Girls Club is a non profit enhancing and developing young people.

In my 15 year career with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, I’ve been a key contributing leader in the operations and development of a Information Technology department focused on people, process, and technology. The department supports the complete business needs of 450+ colleagues, provides critical online resources to 80,000 professional staff and board members, and outcome based programming for nearly 4 million youth to reach their full potential as responsible citizens. I’ve worn many hats in my career, some include network, systems architect / engineer, IT policy and compliance, corporate event production, resource development, facilities management. Some of the accomplishments of the non-IT responsibilities I’m most proud of include: - Corporate Event Production: reduced annual labor costs by about $100,000 by developing event production knowledge and averting the need hire contract help - Resource Development: Secured multiple technology donations totaling over $5 mil to offset operating expenses over the last 10 years. - Facilities Management: Oversaw 8 complete office moves. While I designed and managed the IT aspects, the opportunity to learn and oversee non-IT building infrastructure aspects such as; physical security, power placement, etc., was necessary to ensure success As a result, I have a unique ability to manage multi-disciplinary projects and to navigate complex challenges. But actual experience has taught me that my professional value boils down to the following: - I’ve been in Information Technology since the Internet became a business requirement - Able to effectively communicate and translate between business and technology vernaculars, ultimately understanding and contributing strategy through to execution - Understand how to approach and put out fires; both literally and when used in a business context. - Works calmly and focused, even under pressure - Resourceful, Innovative, Perseverant, Vigilant….
