Vice President and Chief Medical Informatics Officer
The mission of the AAFP is to improve the health of patients, families, and communities by serving the needs of members with professionalism and creativity.
I am a family physician informaticist. I hold a Masters in Health Informatics from the Univ. of Missouri and a Medical Degree from the University of Kansas. I completed a family medicine residency at Wesley Family Medicine in Wichita, KS. I have helped the AAFP increase the adoption of electronic health records in their membership for 10% to 40%+ over a 3 year period; and to over 70% now. Goals: (1) to drive the adoption of health-IT in physician offices to help those practices deliver the highest quality care possible; (2) to increase the patient's access to health information in a form they can use to be an active partner in their care; (3) to drive general computer industry practices and standards into health care to help the health care industry to catch up its 10 year plus lag in IT tools and services.Specialties: Physician Adoption of technologyHealth-IT Standards Development Health Information ExchangeHealth-IT PolicyXML Messaging and ModelingClinical Decision Support
