Senior Manager, Application Development and Data Services
The mission of the AAFP is to improve the health of patients, families, and communities by serving the needs of members with professionalism and creativity.
I do the work of data storytelling and advocate for data‐driven decision making – making financial, practical, and logistical decisions based on actual data and evidence, rather than “best guesses.” Most recently, my work has centered around the idea that “Place Matters” when it comes to health access, health outcomes, and health equity, and exploring the relationship between geography and health. To that end, I work with various types of organizations to help them understand how to use data to support their advocacy efforts, whether it’s expanding access to care through the use of Nurse Practitioners, identifying issues of concern for rural areas of a state that could be addressed through medical outreach, or illustrating issues of health inequity. I have extensive experience working with individuals and groups to inventory, document, and understand the data that they produce and consume and have served as an analytic asset to groups needing assistance with data collection, management, analysis, and interpretation, whether for internal projects or grant proposals. In addition to procuring data, I develop data visualization tools to tell stories and translate statistical findings into everyday language. In addition to my full-time day job, I work part-time as a fitness and nutrition coach at Kitsap CrossFit, helping people find their path to health and wellness.
