It is no surprise to people who know me that I work in the area of Learning and People Development. I’ve always had a passion for people, how we learn, grow and sustain a great culture at work. All are key factors in the success in an organization. Engaged and evolving people = Engaged and evolving organization. My official title is Director of Learning & Development at Zillow Group however, the day-to-day is broader than that. I manage a small but mighty team in Seattle and San Francisco. Together we have the privilege of designing the learning and development programs and culture activities for our company. We want our employees to feel successful in their roles each day and we get to provide the resources to help them do that. There is no typical day at Zillow - we “Move Fast and Think Big” (one of our core values.) My team gets involved in everything from putting together a Personal Branding class, to partnering with Recruiting to put together interview training, to launching our employee SWAG store to helping plan our Holiday party. No two days are alike and that’s why I love it. The best part of my job is to see how the programs my team puts into place helps shape the individuals, the company and the culture. When you see employees that are grateful and happy to come to work every day it’s very rewarding. When I am not creating, initiating or following through with people development programs at Zillow, I’m probably on a sports field somewhere cheering on my two kids or hanging around our dining room table enjoying a great meal prepared by my husband.
