I have spent the last 10 years as a corporate HR leader, partnering with countless businesses and employees at all levels. Showing up to work every day with a smile on my face, critical thinking mindset, a can do; will do attitude, and the ability to create a positive impact in the workplace. But what many, other than my family and close friends, didn’t know, was that I was struggling, significantly, behind the scenes. With bouts of deep depression, loneliness, isolation, and anxiety. As a professional, I believed that my personal life and problems, had to “stay at home.” Then over the last few years, just like the rest of the world… My WORK. My LIFE. My PROBLEMS were ALL AT HOME. I FELT TRAPPED and on top of that... I was pregnant with my first child. A time in my life when I should be CELEBRATING… and instead I was having to breathe and meditate out of panic attacks before my day of back-to-back zoom calls. I knew that I couldn’t live the life I was living any longer. I knew I NEEDED something DIFFERENT. So I went for it… and I QUIT… and it has been the most humbling, yet rewarding decision of my life.
