I'm back at Copetown Woods now after a bit of a break, and it was the best thing that could have happened for me personally and for our business. CW is our family owned and operated golf course that we transformed from our broccoli farm in 2002. It's not making the top 100 course list, but it's a pretty sweet place to play golf and eat dinner. I'm fortunate to have gained experience managing teams and running events of all shapes and sizes, with a highlight being the front man (as a volunteer) for my hometown winning Kraft Hockeyville in 2010. This lead me to a seven year hiatus from the golf course to become a Director at Wasserman, one of the top global sports marketing agencies, leading RBC's global golf sponsorship portfolio amongst others. Seven years of trains and planes was enough, and it was time to make my way back home with some corporate world experience (corporate'ish). I've always been an 'ideas guy', and now that I'm back running the family business it feels great to come up with ideas and run with them. No 25 page presentation decks required to pitch a concept. If it will make us money ... do it. If it will make the guest experience better ... do it. If it will make our team members' jobs more efficient ... do it. And guest what? If the ideas work ... perfect. If they don't ... try again. I like to work off the cuff like that. What will tomorrow bring? Ask me in the morning!
