My work sits at the intersection of food, animals and storytelling, as I explore the ways in which we understand and talk about food systems, food animals, plant-based futures and fairer, healthier ways to live on this planet. For the past twelve months I've been commissioned by The Vegan Society to write a major new report on the policy we need for a plant-based food system, interviewing over 40 experts, from farmers to policymakers. I'm particularly interested in examining and dismantling the polarization that exists across our political and social spheres and that obstructs us working to build a better food system together. The tired 'vegan vs. farmer' narrative much loved by the tabloid media only gets in the way of people who 80% agree on most things. We need to sit down at the table together if we are to find ways to tackle the climate, soil and health emergencies we collectively face. I'm more interested in 'vegan meets farmer' than 'vegan fights farmer'. Past strategy work with Animal Rebellion, Animal Think Tank, Save Movement UK CIC, and other organisations.
