Agile Product Owner

Samtec, Inc. is the service leader in the electronic interconnect industry. The company is headquartered in New Albany, Ind., and employs approximately 4,000 people worldwide. Samtec has offices in 18 countries including seven manufacturing locations. Most Samtec products fall into one of following solution blocks: High Speed (Signal Integrity) Board-to-Board, High Speed Cables, Future-Proof/Active Optics, IC-to-Board/Ultra Micro, Flexible Stacking and Micro/Rugged components and cable assemblies.

I have 12+ years of experience in the telecommunications manufacturing industry. My primary roles were strategic pricing/quoting of large opportunities, which morphed into strategic pricing and quoting for our advanced products as well as providing forecasts to Sales Management and Operations. I was responsible for training many associates during this time. Due to years of being a user of my company’s systems, I became a subject matter expert for a project to build a new quoting system. Through that process, I was exposed to the Agile process and software development. I got offered a position as scrum master on the CRM team and then to product owner. My primary focus has been to integrate my company’s internal systems with Salesforce. I invest significant time getting to know the users and their processes. I also spend time priority setting/requirements gathering with stakeholders to ensure their satisfaction with our products. I am responsible for roadmaps, training, testing, documenting processes, planning sprints, leading daily stand up meetings, and running weekly refinement meetings. I am also primarily responsible for backlog construction and maintenance. I am currently the product owner for the Pricing Intelligence and Sales Core team. The PI project is to successfully implement a third party price optimization tool. Sales Core just completed the Point of Sale project and is moving into a decommission of older software cycle/tech debt.
