Focus areas: Corporate Community Investment | Corporate Volunteering | Social Impact | Social Entrepreneurship | Impact First Investments I believe that if businesses authentically are committed to be a force for positive change in society, companies should include non-commercial strategies to create social impact. Looking into corporate processes and the business value chain is of great importance to remain legitimacy, but that alone will not resolve our grand challenges, including those who are affecting the corporate context in the long run too. Here, we need to stimulate companies to pursue non-commercial activities to address grand challenges which are not suitable (yet) to profit from but are needed to remain or build a resilient society in which a company can flourish. Currently, I am working at NN Group, leading the team on Community Investment. I am proud that Community Investment is formally part of our strategic commitments. We pledge to invest 1% of our operating result to support charitable organisations and social entreprises. With these resources, we focus on supporting the financial, physical and/or mental well-being of 1 million people by 2025, especially for those for who lack resources or opportunities in the communities where we live and work. I also enjoy greatly the roles that I have at several boards of corporate foundations, (advisory) committees and continue to work as a lecturer at Rotterdam School of Management Erasmus University, where I enjoy working with students on topics such as corporate citizenship, corporate social investments, corporate volunteering, social entrepreneurship and non-profit management.
