About the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation: The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation was established in 1982 by Nancy Brinker to honor the memory of her sister, Susan G. Komen, who died from breast cancer at the age of 36. Today, the Foundation is an international organization with a network of more than 75,000 volunteers working through local Affiliates and events like Komen Race for the Cure to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease. A global leader in the fight against breast cancer, the Foundation fulfills its mission through support of innovative breast cancer research grants, meritorious awards and educational, scientific and community outreach programs around the world. Through fiscal year 2005, the Komen Foundation, together with its Affiliate Network, corporate partners and generous donors, has invested $630 million in breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment programs.

She is passionate about achieving timely and accurate results, being a positive influence, acting fairly and consistently, adding value and building trust. As Susan G. Komen Orange County’s Director of Development, Stacy has a deep commitment to growing a culture of philanthropy. Susan G. Komen has raised billions of dollars in the fight against breast cancer and has advocated for those affected by the disease for nearly 40 years. She is known for being a consummate development professional with incredible project management skills. Stacy is a leader in communicating the mission purposes for donating money – through the MORE THAN PINK Walk® (formerly Race for the Cure®) peer-to-peer 5K fundraising event, Pink Tie Ball fundraising gala, third party events, sponsorships and personal solicitations – she grounds the fundraising appeals with the true purpose of the Komen mission. One of her greatest attributes is her ability to patiently cultivate potential sponsors and individuals, over as long as several years, until they are ready and enthused about investing in Komen’s work. During her time as Interim Director she led the Affiliate team with diligence, professionalism, respect, and grace. She ensured an atmosphere of comradery and team work as well as continuing to produce results effectively in her own workload. She addressed challenges and new opportunities as they arose and maintained positive working relationships with Board members. Stacy’s ongoing leadership has resulted in cultivation of corporate sponsors and relationship building that has increased Komen OC’s financial support and long-term, multi-year sponsors and donors. She led the charge to implement a new volunteer leadership structure engaging corporate C-level co-chairs to engage their business associates to support the Komen fundraising effort, while at the same time continuing to support the social volunteers who fundraise and design the Pink Tie Ball event. One other leadership gift that Stacy brings is the warmth of appreciation – felt by volunteers and staff. Her thoughtfulness and listening skills bring people ever closer to the work. Personal notes, a small gift, remembering to follow-up on a concern, praising a person’s efforts and reminding us to celebrate our accomplishments are a few more important ways that Stacy exceeds her normal job responsibilities…every day.
