Using science and research to solve issues and make a difference to industry, people and the planet. National science agency.
Senior policy economist with CSIRO Land and Water specializing in environmental markets and natural capital including auctions and tenders, offsets, cap and trade and related approaches. In 2020 I am: * Leading the strategic contribution across our 15+ economists to CSIRO Land and Water's outstanding array of science! * Exploring the production benefits from managing natural capital capital on farms: Exploring the production and ongoing sustainability of the grazing system on beef enterprises across northern Queensland. * Working with a major finance industry entity to support natural capital management across their agricultural portfolio. * Providing expert strategic advice Australian governments across GBR (member of the GBR Independent Expert Panel), biodiversity and natural capital. * Supporting CSIRO's soon to be announced Drought Mission: developing a synthesis across the importance of protecting natural capital on farms during drought. Protecting natural capital on farms ensures the production system is ready and able to respond to rainfall at the same time as reducing drought impact beyond farms such as dust, avoiding damage to streams rivers and storages (and other infrastructure) and the system stability provided by native biodiversity across landscapes. * And more!
