After graduating from the Bachelor of Biotechnology Innovation degree with Honours from QUT, I landed a job with the South Carolina Biotechnology Incubation Program (SC BIO) in 2007, in part thanks to the sister-state agreement between Queensland and South Carolina. My role at SC BIO as the Market Research Manager focused on providing commercialisation support to start-up life science companies and university spin-offs in South Carolina. I conducted market research and due diligence aimed at formulating business plans and achievable commercialisation strategies. I enjoyed my time in the U.S. - mostly thanks to the great people - and returned home to Australia in early 2009. I then worked at the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) for 20 months as the Business Development Officer in the Research & Innovation Office (RIO). My role involved obtaining, negotiating and marketing UTS' capabilities for contract and collaborative research. In November 2010, I relocated back to Brisbane to take up a position at UniQuest, utilising both my contract negotiation skills, business development skills and ability to interact with researchers. I enjoy working with a diverse range of researchers and hearing about innovative ideas. I enjoy figuring out ways to solve problems and like to use my initiative to tackle new challenges.
