Bessemer Venture Partners (BVP) invests in early-stage, hyper-growth startups, partnering closely with entrepreneurs to build durable businesses. Rob is the President & Chief Executive Officer of Avid Park Capital, an investment management firm based in Palo Alto, California. Rob serves on the faculty at UC Berkeley in the Haas School of Business where he teaches courses on venture capital, private equity, hedge funds, and entrepreneurship. Rob is a two-time recipient of the Earl F. Cheit Outstanding Teaching Award given annually by students to the top faculty member. Rob is a personal angel investor, advisor, or board member at two-dozen technology start-ups. He serves as the Board Chair of the Berkeley Endowment Management Company, which manages UC Berkeley’s endowment. He serves as the Board Chair of Menlo School Board of Trustees, where he served on the endowment planning committee. He serves on the Board of Dean’s Advisors at Harvard Business School, where he also served as the Major Gifts Chair for his 20th year reunion campaign. Prior to founding Avid Park, Rob spent two decades as a venture capitalist during which he invested in 25 start-ups that went public or were acquired by other public companies. In his last year as a full-time venture capitalist Rob was ranked #28 on the Forbes Magazine's Midas List of top global venture capitalists. He was on the Midas List for five years in a row. At Bessemer Venture Partners, Rob was a managing partner, served on the firm’s management & investment committees, and led the firm’s limited partner fund raising activities. He also helped establish the firm’s India investment practice. Prior to joining BVP, Rob was a general partner with Commonwealth Capital Ventures. Earlier, Rob was an engagement manager with McKinsey & Company in their Palo Alto office. Rob worked for Accenture in the Strategic Services Group in their San Francisco, New York and London offices. Rob has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA from UC Berkeley. In his spare time, Rob enjoys playing golf, surfing, skiing and reading.
