I have a broad range of professional experience in education. I taught for eight years as a high school English and Spanish teacher, including two years in alternative school. I served as a teacher association president, which led to a position as an organizational consultant for nine years for the Arizona Education Association. In this capacity I focused on building membership, organizational and leadership development, negotiated a variety of employment contracts and expanded my professional skills. From 2005 through 214 I worked in the Scottsdale Unified School District, first in the position of Employee Relations Administrator, then as the Executive Director of Human Capital, a position that is responsible for 3,200 employees with a payroll of over $100,000,000 annually. In 2010 my title changed to Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources. This position required leadership in a variety of areas including implementation of new educational initiatives that impact student achievement. I was responsible for maintaining a collaborate working relationship between the District and our three employee associations through a variety of processes, including negotiating contracts through the meet and confer process. In 2012 I became the Associate Superintendent. In July, 2014, I joined the Bellevue School District as the Executive Director of Human Resources.
