Retired Executive Vice President
BancFirst provides commercial banking services to retail customers and small to medium-sized businesses.
After graduating from Oklahoma Christian in 1973, earning a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration and a minor in accounting, I began my business career with Halliburton Services in the Tax Department followed in a year by a promotion to the Halliburton Commercial Credit Unit as a Credit Analysts. In 1979 I was promoted to Assistant Credit Manager for the Oklahoma Region and relocated to Oklahoma City. The responsibility included managing approximate $150 million in monthly credit sales. In 1981 was promoted to Credit Manager of the Oklahoma Region responsible for $350 million in monthly credit sales managing a team of credit managers. I resigned in 1983 to begin a career in banking. I joined Bank of Oklahoma as a Vice President of Energy Lending managing and growing a book of credits totaling $50 million. In 1984 I became Manger of Energy Lending managing a department of $250 million in credit. In 1988 was promoted to Metropolitan Lending as a Senior Officer focusing on Commercial Credit Marketing and portfolio management and grew my portfolio of business to $100 million. I resigned in 1995 to join BancFirst as President of BancFirst Oklahoma City. As President of BancFirst, Oklahoma City, I was fortunate to direct a team that grew the bank to $550 million in assets through sound credit quality and deposit growth. During that time I was also involved in the purchase of two banking companies and integrating those personnel into the BancFirst culture as well as opening three new locations. In 2003, I was promoted to lead, direct and mentor eight presidents in our Southwest Oklahoma Banks as the Regional Executive of that Region. I thoroughly enjoy working with Presidents who are highly motivated, good marketers, well experienced and individual leaders. The responsibility allows mutual growth between the Presidents and me and am honored to remain in that Regional Executive position with sensitively held responsibilities. After twenty-five years of appreciated employment with BancFirst and forty-seven years of total employment, In February 2019, at my initiative, I entered into an Agreement to retire from BancFirst on February 29, 2020. It is very difficult to leave all of my friends, associates and customers at BancFirst but it is time that I focus my life on giving more to my family (ten wonderful grandchildren) and others who have given so much to me. Yet, I will stay connected to BancFirst in a non-employee Customer Relations and Marketing role. Thank you….. David.
