Agios is focused on discovering and developing novel investigational medicines to treat cancer and rare genetic diseases through scientific leadership in the field of cellular metabolism. In addition to an active research and discovery pipeline across both therapeutic areas, Agios has multiple first-in-class investigational medicines in clinical and/or preclinical development. All Agios programs focus on genetically identified patient populations, leveraging our knowledge of metabolism, biology and genomics.

I'm a scientist who loves few things more than a big problem and a big dataset (or two or three) to dig through. It's thus unsurprising that I've been working in computational biology for 15 years and have spent quite a few years diving into Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) algorithm design at the Broad Institute, cancer genomics at Agios Pharmaceuticals, and CRISPR genomics at CRISPR Therapeutics. At startups like Agios and CRISPR I have the pleasure of working with nearly every group and project team in the company on everything from identifying relevant scientific questions, setting up computer hardware locally and in the cloud, implementing appropriate analysis algorithms, and presenting conclusions and recommendations on specific projects as well as overall company strategy at all levels. I've found this type of highly collaborative startup environment a joy to work in and love creating fantastic enterprises like this. The few things I love as much or more than big scientific problems are marathons, triathlons, obstacle racing, mountain racing, home brewing, and getting a few miles off the ground in a seemingly weightless aluminum tube.
