Jill Webb is Associate Dean for Teaching, Learning and Students for the Faculty of Social Sciences with an institutional focus on inclusive learning and teaching. She joined The University of York Management School in September 2012 from Leeds Beckett University where she was Subject Lead for Accounting. Since joining York Jill has held a variety of leadership roles within the school including Director of Teaching and Learning. Jill is co-founder and leader of the Centre for Advanced Study of Management Education, an interdisciplinary space through which colleagues are invited to explore the future of teaching and scholarship in management education. Jill was the first in her family to attend university. She studied as an undergraduate at LSE and her first job was in audit with KPMG. She studied part time for a MSc in International Financial Analysis at University of Newcastle whilst working at Beckett and since joining University of York has completed a Doctorate in Education at University of Sheffield. Jill’s scholarship focuses on the role of Higher Education in preparing students for their future with a more recent focus on social inequalities in access to graduate careers. Her Doctoral thesis focused on the development of career aspiration in undergraduate students with an emphasis on class and gender. Previously her work has included an evaluation of skills development in accounting trainees with a focus on the role of Higher Education and professional training providers. Jill is a member of the following University committees and groups; University Teaching Committee; Inclusive Teaching and Learning Steering Group, Access, Success and Progression Steering Group, Digital Education Steering Group, Student Voice Group, Academic Contingency Group, Student Life and Opportunities Contingency Group, Personal Supervision Working Party. She is Chair of the Faculty Teaching & Learning Group for Social Sciences and a member of the University’s First Generation Network.
