Eric K. Gupta, PharmD, CLS, FCPhA, FNLA is Assistant Dean of External Relations at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, CA. In this role he is responsible for enhancing alumni relations, developing corporate/organizational partnerships, recruiting prospective students, and leading strategy on branding and social media for the College of Pharmacy. He is also an Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice and Administration, where he is the facilitator of the Metabolic Syndrome block in the curriculum covering hypertension, lipids, diabetes, and obesity. Dr. Gupta’s practice site is at the WesternU Health Patient Care Center where he practices collaboratively with other health professionals to optimize chronic disease state management in an interprofessional setting. Previously he was at St. Mary Medical Center, Long Beach where he developed and led the Medication Management Service specializing in management of diabetes, lipids, hypertension, and smoking cessation. Prior to that he was with the Orange County Heart Institute where he primarily managed the lipid clinic. Additionally, Dr. Gupta has been very active in professional societies. He served as President of the Pacific Lipid Association in 2020, a regional chapter of the National Lipid Association, President of the California Pharmacists Association in 2010, and Grand Regent (National President) of Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity from 2013-2015 among others. Dr. Gupta graduated from the University of the Pacific Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy in 2000, completed a PGY-1 General Practice residency at the VA San Diego Health System, and completed a two-year Cardiovascular Research Fellowship, focusing in lipidology, through the VA San Diego Health System in conjunction with the University of the Pacific.
