Dennis Pickett is the Westat Corporate Information Security Officer (CISO) and has 18 years of experience in information technology and security leadership with more than a decade of providing infrastructure and security strategy, engineering and compliance solutions in HHS, Treasury, and DHS environments. At Westat, he is responsible for all corporate information security as well as oversight of individual projects' implementation and maintenance of effective security controls and their compliance with industry best practice and Federal requirements. In previous work, Mr. Pickett created and managed multiple IT integration and enterprise security programs, architected and implemented infrastructure and security strategy and solutions across highly diverse and complex research programs for DHS, Treasury, and multiple NIH Institutes and individual projects; created, led, and personally conducted multiple risk assessment programs to ensure and physical and technological safeguards of people, assets, and intellectual capital. Mr. Pickett was recently published as a co-author in the peer reviewed security publication ISACA Journal for the article, 'Considerations for Ensuring Security of Research Data in a Federally Regulated Environment'. Mr. Pickett also has a position as an Adjunct Professor at Montgomery College's Information Technology Institute (ITI) where he teaches classes on cyber security, cloud computing, networking, and other information technology related subjects.
