Sometimes, the best things in life come unannounced. Going into my senior year of high school, I had not a clue what the future would hold for me. I was anticipating that I would enroll as an undeclared major at Clemson University. Although I ultimately ended up as an undeclared major for my first semester, it was because of a unique and special course that I had taken my senior year (of high school) which ultimately pushed me towards graphic communications. What most saw as just another class, I saw as an opportunity. My high school graphic arts class was just the bolt of energy that I needed. We learned the basics of Photoshop, designed and screen printed shirts, captured and even developed photographs, and much much more! After a semester (at Clemson) of trying to discover my calling, I came across the Clemson University Graphic Communications program. Through word-of-mouth, one of the most effective marketing tools, I learned the ins and outs of the major. I was immediately drawn in. This was my calling. This was my passion. I have been enthusiastic about the major ever since I declared. The graphic communications industry has opened me up to the sheer quantity and vast variety of opportunities. Whether it is in print, marketing, packaging, or even design, all of these opportunities have been made available to me. I feel that this major has well-equipped me for the professional world. I have grown as an individual, academically and professionally. As my academic career comes to a close, I am determined to own the future!
