Voice of America (VOA) is a multimedia international broadcasting service funded by the U.S. Government. VOA news, information and educational programs are heard around the world in more than 40 languages, on radio, television, the Internet, mobile, and through affiliate stations.

Carol is a writer-editor for the English-language website of Voice of America, which she joined in April 2014. She's also a co-founder of AmericanFoodRoots.com, a national online magazine of food and culture. Previously, she was an editor for the Scripps Howard News Service in Washington, D.C., where she shepherded multimedia projects and edited stories, editorials and op-ed columns for the wire. She has edited for NPR's online news division. Before that, she worked at the University of Maryland's College of Journalism, as founding director of the Journalism Fellowships in Child and Family Policy, as senior editor for the Journalism Center on Children & Families, and as assistant editor of the American Journalism Review. Carol has a deep background in newspapers, primarily at the Milwaukee Journal and then Journal Sentinel, at posts including Sunday magazine editor, food editor, features reporter and copy editor.
