In October 2002 Jerry founded Vaco as its sole employee. In the first year he enjoyed the full entrepreneurial experience in his multiple roles such as top (and only) salesperson and recruiter, website developer, accountant, payroll clerk , executive admin, A/R manager, treasurer, copywriter and general performer of duties not otherwise assigned. Joyfully he has fired himself from the majority of these roles in favor of much more qualified applicants and now enjoys a world-class infrastructure that fuels what has become a family of 30 Vaco companies and $350 million in revenues as of December 2016. With this world-class infrastructure Jerry is free to support the employees, partners, clients, candidates and consultants of the Vaco Nation. Jerry has personally received many awards, including the 2007 Ernst and Young's Entrepreneur of the Year award for the Southeast region and the Williamson County Impact Awards. Jerry has a philanthropic heart and is an active supporter of Safe Haven Family Shelter, the only shelter in the middle Tennessee area that supports families as a whole unit and is an active Board member of the Boys & Girls Club of Middle Tennessee. He served six years in the Marine Corps Reserves where he was meritoriously promoted twice, served a five month active tour of duty in the first Gulf War and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant (E-5). He graduated Cum Laude from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelors degree in accounting. He resides in Nashville with his wife of 18 years, Angela. They have three sons: Max, 16; Will, 14 and Luke, 10.
