I’m a reporter and editor specializing in health, medicine, business and breaking news coverage in Florida. Currently I'm the Economy & Growth Editor, overseeing business news at the Tampa Bay Times. Previously I was a reporter at the Times, covering health & medicine, retail, tourism and various consumer-related topics for the metro and business sections. Prior to joining the Times, I wrote for the business section of the Sarasota Herald-Tribune, the South Florida Sun Sentinel in Fort Lauderdale and for the Orlando Business Journal. I also worked as a crime beat reporter for the St. Augustine Record. I served as editor-in-chief of a start up digital magazine called Unravel aimed at young professionals in the Southwest Florida market. I spent a year developing the product with a team before launching it to the public. I also served as an assistant editor on the projects team at the Herald-Tribune. I published a long-form special report about my experience as a first time egg donor, “The Cost of Life,” for the Herald-Tribune in 2014. The story ran in print as a 32-page special section with no ads and as a multimedia project online. I contribute to several blogs, reach audiences through social media, and take and shoot my own photos and videos. I'm also a podcast host. I lead creative discussions on the best practices of social media at journalism conferences and in my own newsroom. I'm served as the vice president of the Journalism & Women Symposium. During my time as a student at the University of Central Florida, I interned at the Orlando Business Journal, the Sarasota Herald-Tribune, Winter Park Magazine, Wakeboarding Magazine and was the news editor of my college paper, the Central Florida Future. I’m a native Floridian. When I’m not writing, I’m riding. I also contribute to international equestrian publications as media director for Heels Down Media.
