I like building companies – particularly in financial services – and I like markets. I’ve been fortunate enough to intersect both in many of my endeavors. Currently, I’m a co-founder and the CEO of SoFi. I helped start SoFi because I wanted to bring “local” back to financial services. Think Jimmy Stewart’s Building and Loan. Financial services is an area long overdue for disruptive change, and I hope SoFi is the first of many businesses transforming this model. I’m also a co-founder and the managing partner at Cabezon. I helped start Cabezon in 2006, and have grown the business from a traditional hedge fund into a proprietary trading shop that works with some of the largest family offices in the country. Cabezon is a fish indigenous to the West Coast, and unbeknownst to me at naming, also means jack ass in Latin America. Specialties: financial services, hedge funds, family offices, peer-to-peer lending, macro trading, company building
