I'm a writer, reader, and theatremaker. In 2016, I earned my PhD in English from the University of Washington and taught literature and writing for several years before joining the nonprofit world in 2021. I parlay my scholarly writing and research skills into my work as a professional grant writer. As the co-artistic director of Noveltease Theatre, I combine my lifelong love of literature with my performance background to create new, dance-driven adaptations of classic novels. My writing applies a scholar’s critical eye to literature, film, theatre, and television. My scholarly work has been published in the European Journal of American Cultural Studies, Studies in Gothic Fiction, and In Media Res. I have also written numerous film “re-views” for Ten Years Ago: Films in Retrospective, as well as theatre criticism for Deconstruct. A seasoned public speaker, I have presented at numerous scholarly conferences, spoken on panels at Geek Girl Con and BurlyCon, and appeared on the podcasts Eggs & Space, Femmes Like Us, and The Poetry Vlog. People like my voice enough to hire me as a master of ceremonies, licensed wedding officiant, and voice-over artist.
