From playing on a Sinclair ZX Spectrum in my teens, through starting my career as an IT Developer with Accenture, right through to my current position of IT Director for ISBAN UK (part of the Santander Group), IT has always enthused, excited and challenged me. I get my kicks from making things happen: I create freedom to innovate and use technology to drive business performance within strictly regulated environments and ensure reliability, robustness and sustainability across IT processes and systems so the business can get on with business. Adding value via IT is about communication. I’m a believer in understanding customer requirements and communicating how best to assist via systems, support and consultancy. Fluency in English, Spanish and Portuguese means I can engage stakeholders by translating complex IT concepts into business level discourse; this has enabled the straightforward implementation of new ways of working at Santander, supporting business growth and development. Experience internationally has allowed me to keep up to date with emerging IT trends and implement these into transformational change programmes for the company. With a track-record of leading digital transformation enablement and managing diverse, multicultural and multifunctional teams in both internal and consultancy based roles, I am an all-rounder that drives revenue, automation and efficiency for one of the largest banks in the world. I love doing it. I drive opportunities to proactively improve, transform and evolve. My approach isn’t reactive, but about finding the best teams, with the right skills and the right resources to act as trailblazers within the financial services IT arena. Whether dealing with big data, small system implementations or devising strategies for business units, my team and I consistently make our organisation that little bit more competitive with everything we achieve. IT is considered a support function, and our one goal is to support business success.
