Point Loma Nazarene University is a Christian liberal arts college. Its main campus is located on the Point Loma oceanfront in San Diego, California, United States. It was founded in 1902 as a Bible college by the Church of the Nazarene.

Dr. G. James Daichendt serves as Vice Provost for Undergraduate Studies, Dean of Colleges, and Professor of Art History at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego. He is also a Professor for Boston University’s Graduate Program in Art Education. Prior to this appointment, he served as Associate Dean at Azusa Pacific University, Acting Director for the Graduate Art Education Program at Queens College, City University of New York and Director of Exhibitions, Interim Director of General Studies, and Graduate Director of the MA in Art History program at Azusa Pacific University. Jim is author of several books: Urban Canvas: Street Around the World; Shepard Fairey: Artist/Professional/Vandal; Kenny Scharf: In Absence of Myth; Stay Up! Los Angeles Street Art, Artist-Teacher: A Philosophy for Creating and Teaching and Artist Scholar: Reflections on Writing and Research. Jim founded and is the Chief Editor of the academic journal: Visual Inquiry: Learning and Teaching Art and is a regular contributor to a variety of arts journals, magazines, and newspapers including The San Diego Union-Tribune, Teaching Artist Journal, Art Education, International Journal of Art and Design Education, ArtScene, Artillery, and Pasadena Scene magazine.
