Rod joined Origin in 2017 as Chief Digital Officer to transform Origin into a global leader in digital energy retailing. His role expanded at the end of 2018 to include establishing and leading an end-to-end transformation of Origin’s Retail business, spanning all channels, people, processes and systems - both digital and non-digital. The transformation achieved its goals, significantly increasing NPS and reducing annual costs by over $100m. In addition to his role as CDO, Rod has taken on a new position leading a growth portfolio with a mandate to double the size of Origin’s retail business. Rod’s experience covers a range of P&L, growth, strategy, and transformation roles across corporate, management consulting and start-up businesses. The common thread has been growing and transforming businesses through clear strategy, building high performing teams, customer focus, and innovation. Before joining Origin, Rod spent 3.5 years at Sportsbet, Australia’s largest pure play e-commerce company. He joined Sportsbet in 2014 to lead the Product, Digital Marketing, Innovation and Analytics teams and build a market leading digital capability. Rod later took on a new role as GM Customer Engagement & Revenue where he was responsible for revenue growth of Sportsbet's base of 2m+ customers. Before Sportsbet, Rod was Head of Strategy, Data & Analytics at ANZ Australia, where he led a large multi-disciplinary team responsible for B2C strategy, customer analytics, data, business intelligence, and a $100m+ investment program to transform ANZ's customer analytics capabilities. Rod’s prior experience includes practicing as a solicitor at Clayton Utz; founding and running a venture capital-backed Internet business that grew to #1 in its market segment; commercial management at a mining company; and several years as a strategy consultant at management consulting firm, A.T Kearney, where he specialised in growth strategy and business transformation for clients across Australia and Asia. Rod is a John Clemenger Memorial Prize winner, having graduated first in Melbourne Business School's MBA class of 2005; and also holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) and Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the University of Melbourne.
