Specialties: For nearly 25 years I have represented California businesses in employment law matters and related litigation. My practice focuses on wage and hour class action litigation, wrongful termination litigation, and employment law counseling on behalf of employers. I have successfully represented employers in a wide range of jury trials in California state and federal courts, including trials involving wrongful termination, unpaid wages, off-the-clock work, overtime violations, meal and rest period violations, sexual harassment, disability discrimination, FMLA/CFRA violations, age discrimination, and pregnancy discrimination. I write frequently on employment law issues and recently published, "California Employment Law: The Complete Survival Guide To Doing Business in California" (www.EmploymentLawPublishers.com), a 1200 page resource guide for in-house counsel and human resources executives. My book was recently selected by the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) for inclusion in its catalog of preeminent human resources publications. I have been recognized as one of California’s leading employment lawyers in "Chambers USA, America’s Leading Business Lawyers," and multiple times as a "Super Lawyer" by the publishers of Northern California Super Lawyers magazine, a recognition based on peer reviews and professional achievement limited to five percent of all California lawyers. Prior to joining Ogletree Deakins, I was a partner in the labor department of an AM 100 Law Firm, and a former Trial Attorney for the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).
