Michael has over 35 years experience building and running global medtech companies. He currently serves as Lead Director at Nevro (NVRO NYSE). Mr. DeMane served as Nevro's CEO 2011-2016, taking the company from scrappy start-up to a leading player in the global spinal cord stimulation market. With an emphasis on the strategy and culture of growth businesses, under his leadership the company: -raised two venture funding rounds totaling $106M -completed a very successful $145M IPO -initiated a public follow-on offering which was upsized to $260M -instilled a focus on level one clinical evidence and patient outcomes that transformed the global SCS market An engineer by training, Michael has established a consistent record of strategic and operational success leading large and mid-size global med-tech organizations with executive leadership roles in the US, Europe and Australasia. Prior to Nevro, Michael held a number of positions at Medtronic, Inc. including: -Chief Operating Officer -Sr.VP and President Europe, Canada, Latin America and Emerging Markets -Sr.VP and President Spinal, ENT, and Navigation In each of these roles he served on Medtronic’s Executive Committee. Before joining Medtronic, Mr. DeMane served as Managing Director, Australasia for Smith & Nephew Pty. Ltd. in Australia. Prior to that he was President, Orthopaedic Implant Division for Smith & Nephew Orthopaedics. Michael served as Senior Advisor to Thomas, McNerney & Partners (Venture Capital) and Oak Hill Capital (Private Equity) and serves or has served on numerous boards of directors including Cardionomic, Rotation Medical, SafeOrthopaedics, Synaptive Medical, Torax Medical and eResearch Technology, Inc. Mr. DeMane completed the Advanced Management Program at INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France and holds an M.S. in Bioengineering from Clemson University and a B.S. in Chemistry from St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York.
