I am a Technical Director for Social Performance and also the Energy Social Outcomes Lead for Mott MacDonald, one of the world’s largest independent employee-owned consultancies. I draw on almost 20 years of professional experience to provide technical leadership on ESG in infrastructure project development and operation, as well as corporate governance and reporting, specialising in human rights and social performance elements such as labour and working conditions, resettlement and livelihood restoration, indigenous peoples’ development and stakeholder engagement and participation of vulnerable groups. I direct project teams and budgets and help clients to meet international good practice standards designed to uphold the rights of affected workers and communities. I articulate the business case or ESG and responsible business and assist clients with realising the commercial returns resulting from investing in targeting more beneficial social outcomes. I work with my clients to find the solutions to social performance challenges to deliver more inclusive socially sustainable outcomes, by challenging them to think differently about how they deliver their projects. My focus at Mott MacDonald is in the energy sector, working on some of largest and most iconic renewable energy and hydropower projects in the world, but I have cross-sector experience and have worked on projects in Europe, Africa, Central, South and East Asia. I’ve written multiple publications including good practice guides, presented at numerous conference and webinars and delivered practical training and capacity building to lenders, project developers and site-based infrastructure project teams and contractors. My capabilities and career experience also includes team building and resource management, project management and business development through client presentations.
