Global Head of Strategic Excellence at Healthcare Business of Merck

Currently heading Strategic Excellence, for Merck Healthcare with overall accountability for Strategy Development and Strategic Planning, Global Strategic Insights (Forecasting, Market Research and Business Intelligence), Portfolio Management and Valuation and Strategic Alliances. My focus is on architecting the Healthcare strategy for Merck, project and portfolio decision making and overseeing business-critical strategic alliances. Additionally, I undertake a number of governance roles including chairing both the Supervisory board for the Merck-Pfizer alliance and the MVentures Healthcare Investment Committee. I am also a member of the Boards of Ares Trading S.A., Merck B.V. and Merck Performance Materials S.A.. I most recently led Biopharma Marketing and Strategy Operations and prior to that served as the Head of Global Business Development and Alliance Management within the Biopharma business of Merck. Here I was responsible for all partnering activities, taking the global lead role for identifying and executing Global Business Development opportunities for Merck Biopharma's R&D, and also the commercial portfolio plus Alliance Management closing the alliance with Pfizer on PDL1, the single biggest licensing transaction for a clinical stage asset for any company globally.
