Anne Beyer is the Staehelin Family Professor of Accounting at the Stanford Graduate School of Business where she co-directs two programs - "Stanford dy/dx," a program for VC-backed leadership teams, and "Finance and Accounting for the Non-Financial Executive," a one-week intensive program for experienced leaders. She teaches Financial Management for Entrepreneurs as well as Financial and Management Accounting in the Stanford MBA program and Executive Education programs. Anne is the author of numerous case studies on a range of topics related to accounting, financial management, performance measurement and venture capital including cases on 23andme, Roblox, Softbank, Microsoft, Lufthansa and Pear VC. Anne is an internationally recognized scholar on theoretical models of corporate disclosure, information economics and corporate governance. Her recent work examines the properties of financial analysts’ and management’s earnings forecasts, as well as investors’ reaction to earnings forecasts and other forms of corporate disclosures. This work includes studying managers’ and analysts’ incentives to bias forecasts and investors’ inferences about firms’ performance based on the information available. Anne is an associate editor of several leading research journals in the field including The Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting & Economics, and Review of Accounting Studies. Since 2019, Anne has also served on the Board of Directors and as CFO and Secretary of the Children’s Center of the Stanford Community, a non-profit childcare provider on Stanford campus. She provided the financial leadership for a significant increase in capacity and during the unprecedented challenges of the COVID pandemic. Her teaching has been recognized with multiple awards for excellence in the classroom. In 2013, Anne was honored with the MBA Distinguished Teaching Award. In 2014, Anne received Stanford University’s highest teaching honor, the Walter J. Gores Award, and was also named as one of the “Best 40-Under-40 Business School Professors” by Poets & Quants. She received the Excellence in Teaching Award for the GSB’s one-year master program for experienced leaders in 2018 and the PhD Distinguished Service Award in 2021.
