Dave Conover is Vice President of Government Relations and Communications for Kinder Morgan, one of the largest energy infrastructure company in North America. His responsibilities include managing external and internal communications and overseeing the company’s government relations and public affairs activities. Dave served in both the federal executive and legislative branches, as well as in the private sector at a global communications firm, a major corporation and an influential think tank. His executive branch service was as acting assistant secretary and principal deputy assistant secretary for policy and international affairs at the Department of Energy, as well as the director of the U.S. Climate Change Technology Program. He represented the U.S. government in international energy and climate negotiations, advised the Secretary on energy policy matters, and told the Administration’s story in print and broadcast interviews. In Congress, Conover was staff director & chief counsel of the U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, where he secured enactment of legislation to protect the Everglades and to redevelop former hazardous waste sites known as brownfields, among other accomplishments. As Federal Affairs Director for CH2M HILL, Conover developed extensive experience in the environmental law and management fields. He holds a J.D. cum laude from the Georgetown University Law Center and a B.A. with highest honors from the University of Virginia. He is licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
