Senior Engineer

Habito is using technology to bring the mortgage-application process into the 21st century.

I am currently working at habito using Haskell, React and Scala. We use Docker for our deployment on top of AWS. I previously worked as a Scala developer at Time Out. The technology stack involved Scalaz, Spray, Slick, Solr and others. I was mainly responsible for building user focus features to enhance the personalised experience of the site. I was also very involved on the automation and continuous deployment work. Before TimeOut I worked as a Full Stack Software Developer at Ovo Energy. The stack I was working on involved AngularJS, Bootstrap and LESS for the front-end and Scala, Spray, Akka and some Java, Dropwizard for the back-end. The continuous deployment was done using Jenkins and Chef on top of AWS. Before Ovo I worked as a Technology Associate at Morgan Stanley. The role involved programming mostly in Java for the back-end SOAP services. For these services I was using Spring, Guava and Ivy and Ant for dependency management and build. On the front-end I was coding in C# Windows forms using LINQ heavily. The work was done in an Agile way using Jenkins for the Continuous Integration. Before working at Morgan Stanley, I studied at Surrey University for my Bachelors in Computer Science and the University of Oxford for my Masters in Computer Science. While studying I worked as an intern front-end developer at VML London where I did front-end work using Javascript, JQuery and Bootstrap. Another role I took on while studying was a Java Developer for Magneta Technologies in Cyprus where I did back-end work to built the REST services for an online Bingo game. I love learning, so I always pick up new technologies and explore them to see what new they bring to the table. I like being involved in architecture decisions and being aware of how things work from back-end to front-end to infrastructure in the Software Systems that I am working on.
