Programming Instructor and Full Stack Developer
General Assembly is an educational institution that offers full-time programs, classes and workshops in web development, design, business, data science, product management, and digital marketing.
I draw most of my energy from my creative compulsions. Whether it be designing a new web application, recording a new original track, or creating a backend web environment, my passion for building and creating is what drives me. Creating web apps in JavaScript is a medium that allows me to harness that creativity. For instance, I developed the 3D game Retro Express using the 3D JS library Three.js. The minimalistic wireframe style (i.e. Retro) allowed me to explore the vastness of WebGL and 3 dimensional design. Recently I’ve taken on a teaching role at SPICED Academy, a programming bootcamp in Berlin. Teaching the future programmers of the world has been a very rewarding experience. It has been a new challenge for me as I hone my skills in Node.js, JavaScript, Express.js, Backbone, Angular, and React. Through the various projects I’ve worked on, I have become very skilled with JavaScript, Express.js, Node.js, HTML/CSS, Ruby on Rails, SQL, and several other frameworks such as Foundation, Bootstrap, Pure, Skeleton, and jQuery. I also have experience with WordPress, Photoshop, and Illustrator. I greatly enjoy designing complex back-end systems – using Ruby on Rails, Express.js, or Sinatra along with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, SQL, or MySQL. Creating rules for my code to weave in and out of HTTP routes is a visualization that I oftentimes find myself transfixed on. I am excited to continue my studies web development while branching into other programming languages, and I am eager to learn new and innovative programming techniques while continuing to challenge myself and building bigger and better web apps.
